Thank you for supporting the Seventh Annual Cheryl Diamond NYC 5k SCHLEP: Breast & Ovarian Cancer Run / Walk.

As many of you know I lost my dear friend Melissa Arnold last year due to this awful disease. For those of you who knew Melissa - you were lucky. For those of you that didn't here is a brief glimpse into the type of person she was.

Melissa could light up a room by just walking in it. On your worst day she would make you feel like you could conquer the world. She fought cancer with this insane amount of grace and dignity. She always knew the right thing to say. And boy would she make you laugh - I would laugh so hard it hurt. She cared immensely and deeply. No matter how sick she was she would be there with a smile and a hug. She not only enjoyed life, but she LIVED life.

I miss her. I miss our talks, her texts and her unapologetic personality. It was an honor to have her as my friend and I will cherish that friendship forever. I am heartbroken. I am so pissed that she is gone. But most of all I am lucky. Lucky to have had such a beautiful beautiful friend in her.

I miss her every single day and made a promise to do whatever I can to fight this awful disease in her honor for as long as it takes. I want to spare someone else the pain of losing someone they love so much. Please join me in honoring my dear friend and helping those fighting this awful fight because everyone deserves a tomorrow!

The Cheryl Diamond NYC 5k SCHLEP benefits the BRCA Multidisciplinary Clinic, which serves women at high risk of breast and ovarian cancer, at Israel’s Rabin Medical Center’s Davidoff Cancer Center– a world class facility whose sole purpose is the treatment and prevention of cancer. The NYC 5K SCHLEP also supports research studies investigating breast and ovarian cancer, and BRCA mutation carriers.
